Is it regulated?
Before you send money to a bank, a payment app or an investment platform, check two things: that it is authorised to work in Belgium, and that the FSMA has not warned against it. This search covers the European Banking Authority payment register (filtered on Belgium), the ECB list of credit institutions in Belgium, and every FSMA warning about firms operating unlawfully.

What this search covers, and what it does not
- Covered: banks established in Belgium, payment and e-money institutions licensed in Belgium or notified to work here from another EU country, and the FSMA warning list.
- Not covered yet: insurers, insurance and credit intermediaries, investment firms. For those, use the FSMA "Check your provider" search and the National Bank of Belgium lists of supervised institutions.
- A firm can be legitimate and not appear here, and scammers copy real company names ("clones"). If a firm on the warning list has the same name as a real one, contact the real firm through the details in the register, not those you were given.
The EBA register states that it has no legal value on its own; the national register of the supervising authority prevails.
